Did You Know? Saskatchewan is Canada's sunniest province, averaging from 2,000 to 2,500 hours of sunshine annually. Provincial Examinations, Student and Teacher Services Provincial ExaminationsDepartmental Examinations are administered by the Ministry of Education for Grade 12 students instructed by non-accredited teachers. These examinations are written in January, June, and August of each year. Limited sessions are also available in March, May, and December but require Registrar's approval to use. Departmental examinations are prepared in the following grade 12 subjects:
Departmental Examination Policy updates and reminders are made available to secondary schools and directors of education before each school year by way of the Registrar's Handbook for School Administrators. The Ministry of Education has developed the Departmental Examinations: Teacher Guide to assist teachers in preparing students who will be writing departmental examinations. For each course, the guide includes a prototype examination followed by a suggested answer key. These prototype examinations are found in the Appendices of the Teacher Guide and may be copied for teacher and student use. Adults may write the examination without having taken the course. An adult is defined as a person who is at least 18 years of age and who has been out of school for at least one year or is 19 years of age. All candidates writing at an offical writing centre must be prepared to provide authentic proof of identity and proof of a minimum six (6) month residency in Saskatchewan.
